What to Expect

The RYA Diesel Engine course aims to give an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine and the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown at sea and troubleshoot any arising issues which do not require workshop support.

The course will include:

  • Principles of the diesel engine
  • The Four-stroke Cycle
  • The Fuel System
  • The Cooling System
  • The Air Systems
  • The Electrical Systems
  • Spares and Tool Requirements
  • Servicing
  • Fault Finding

You will receive a Day Skipper Student Pack as part of the course.
A 3 hour workshop is available for anyone who would like additional support.
