By law, a ships station (VHF or HF radio) should only be operated by a person holding a current marine radio operator certificate of proficiency.
The Short Range Operators Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP) allow the operator to operate VHF radio.

There are 3 easy steps:

Complete the E-Learning online modules with Paper Sailors Rock inn partnership with Above and Beyond Boating;

Book in for the assessment which involves both an online multiple choice exam and a practical skills assessment via video call (Above and Beyond Boating) or to be arranged in person (with Paper Sailors Rock);

Pay the ‘licence’ fee to Office of Maritime Communications (OMC) to receive your Operators Certificate of Proficiency.
