Service Description

These sailing adventures provides the opportunity to experience a coastal/island hopping passage, gain sea miles and develop cruising skills with the option to complete an RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper along the way.

Fika has some exciting sailing ahead in 2024 and into 2025 which has taken her ‘off the beaten track’.  She is competing in the Sydney to Noumea Yacht Race in May 2024 and then in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December 2024.

Not only is the Queensland coast on offer but also the picturesque NSW coast and Tasmania too.

Upon Fika’s return from Noumea, she will first sail up to the glorious Whitsundays departing from Keppel Bay Marina, Yeppoon. Guided by the weather, possible stopovers include Great Keppel Island, Pearl Bay, Middle Percy Island, Scawfell Island, Shaw Island before arriving at Airlie Beach.

Yeppoon to Brisbane

Join Fika for her sail south. There are two options for the sail from Yeppoon to Brisbane which includes sailing through the Great Sandy Straits or down the ocean side of K’gari Island.  There are certainly some beautiful destinations along the way and depending on those south easterly trade winds, possible anchorages include Great Keppel Island, Pancake Creek, Lady Musgrave Island and Moreton Bay.  If the weather allows, Fika may traverse the Great Sandy Straits exploring Platypus Bay, Kingfisher Resort before exiting the Wide Bay Bar and on to Moreton Bay.  Whichever option there will be time to snorkel, swim, kayak, explore whilst experiencing cruising life.

Brisbane to Coffs Harbour

Departing from Manly Boat Harbour, Fika will traverse the Broadwater down to the Gold Coast before heading out through the Seaway to Yamba/Iluka.  This sail takes in the coastline of the Northern Rivers sailing by Mount Warning,  Cape Byron,  Broken/Lennox Head before entering the Clarence River into Iluka/Yamba. Following a rest, Fika will sail onto Coffs Harbour passing the many islands making up the Solitary Island group.

Coffs Harbour to Sydney Harbour

The NSW coast provides a stunning backdrop as Fika sails south to Sydney.  The sail will be broken down into legs with possible stopovers (weather dependent)  at Trial Bay, Crowdy Head, Broughton Island, Port Stephens, Pittwater and the grand finale, Sydney Harbour.

Hobart to Melbourne

There are two ways to sail from Hobart to Melbourne: the East Coast or the West Coast.  Both are equally spectacular.

The West Coast offers the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, the wildness of South West Cape, Port Davey, Macquarie Harbour, Three Hummock Island, King Island before sailing across Bass Strait, through The Rip into Port Phillip Bay.

The East Coast offers Storm Bay, Port Arthur, Maria Island, Wineglass Bay, Bay of Fires, the Furneaux Group, Hogan Group, Wilsons Promontory and a sail along the South Gippland coast entering The Rip into Port Phillip Bay.

The decision to take either the West coast or the East Coast will be guided by the weather. Regardless of which route Fika takes, the sailing adventure of a lifetime awaits.

All of the mile builders are inclusive of either 5,6,7,9 nights accommodation (this may be in a shared cabin); all meals; PFDs and tethers, use of kayaks and sailing tuition (tailored to your goals and including RYA practical if requested).

Please don’t hesitate to contact Annette for further information.
