Service Description

These sailing adventures provides the opportunity to experience a coastal/island hopping passage, gain sea miles and develop cruising skills with the option to complete an RYA Competent Crew, Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper along the way.

Safety is of the utmost importance and the route for each of these mile builders will be guided by the weather.

Fika has some exciting sailing ahead in 2024 and into 2025 which will take her ‘off the beaten track’.  She is competing  in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December 2024.  In March 2025, Fika will be sailing in the Melbourne to Osaka yacht race.  Her return journey from Japan will bring her back to Townsville with some exciting mile builders kicking off from Townsville upon her return to Australian waters.

Hobart to Melbourne

The journey from Hobart to Melbourne will take Fika and her crew either up the West Coast or East Coast.  Both routes offer wilderness, beauty, wildlife and exquisite anchorages.  The route will be determined by the weather.  West Coast stopovers include the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Port Davey, Macquarie Harbour, King Island  whilst the East Coast stopovers include Port Arthur, Maria Island, Schouten Passage, Wineglass Bay, Flinders Island, Deal Island, Wilsons Promontory and into Port Phillip Bay.

Airlie Beach to Mackay

This mile builder allow you to sail and explore the many picturesque islands from the southernmost to the northernmost Whitsunday Islands.  There are a multitude of protected anchorages, walking tracks, snorkelling opportunities and pristine beaches to explore.

This mile builders is suitable for those new to sailing and coastal passages.  The islands  and the Great Barrier Reef offer protection from the ocean swell.   The sail will be broken into day hops from island to island.

Mackay to Yeppoon

Scawfell or St Bees/Keswick Islands are the most Southernmost Whitsunday Islands and at the doorstep to Mackay.  From these stunning islands, our sail may include the  Percy Islands (Middle Percy being famous for its A Frame structure and memorabilia); Pearl Bay, Port Clinton, the Keppel Islands before arriving in Rosslyn Bay (Yeppoon).  The prevailing winds in November should be North East with some stunning down wind sailing ‘ordered’.

Yeppoon to Brisbane

Departing from Rosslyn Bay (Yeppoon), our sail may include Great Keppel Island, Pancake Creek (where a walk may be in order to the Bustard Head Lighthouse), Lady Musgrave Island, Lady Elliot Island before sailing onto Moreton Bay.  There is the option to sail either on the outside of K’gari Island or down the Great Sandy Straits with an exit out of the Wide Bay Bar.  The route will be determined by the weather during our sail.  It is our preference to sail down the eastern side of K’gari with an overnight passage complete with crash landing boobie birds (seeking rest on deck), flying fish, phosphorescence and star lit skies.

“All I can say is wow, wow, wow! The food was organic – home made and something Gourmet Traveller needs to showcase (I can’t cook that good at home). Annette is so positive, generous with her time and sharing of knowledge- I learnt so much which I will take back to use onboard my own boat.
